On October 17, GoPro invited 60 members of the press from around the world to San Francisco to experience the launch of the HERO3. Then they treated them to an action packed, once in a lifetime GoPro style adventure.
Each journalist signed up for either a Land, a Sea, or an Air adventure before they came. Only after they arrived were they told what they would be doing!
PADI and Any Water Sports (San Jose, CA) along with the Aquarium of the Bay in San Francisco were privileged to host the early morning “sea” adventure: A Discover Scuba Experience in the aquarium! Each participant was paired with one of the Any Water Sports instructors and fitted with a HERO3 camera on their head to record and enjoy their dives. Participants dove in the Kelp tank first and then had the option to dive in the shark tank. EVERYONE chose to dive in the shark tank! Among the participants were Nick Woodman, the founder and CEO of GoPro and pro surfer, Mark Healey. The “sea” adventure then continued as participants enjoyed the afternoon aboard an America’s Cup sailboat.

Here’s the first video I’ve seen from the event in SF – in the Brisbane Times – founder Nick Woodman talks about the HERO3 and there is some underwater footage in the video. Thanks Ted Heublein for sending it to me.
And here is one from a participant who was already a certified diver, Neil Hope:
Amazing day – amazing product – so glad they loved scuba diving!
