It was great to see those of you who came by our booth at the Dive Expo last weekend.  It is always terrific when the dive community comes together to celebrate the sport we all love, especially in a local setting. We had some show specials we were offering, and they are in effect until Friday, May 18. Gear packages, factory authorized discounts on DUI drysuits, and other specials – take advantage of them! This promises to be an annual event, so keep your calendar open for May 4 & 5, 2013.

The Dive Pirates Barbeque and Silent Auction is a benefit which raises awareness and funds for this unique organization.   The Dive Pirates Foundation’s vision creates a community of Adaptive Divers that were once fighting gravity until they entered the underwater world…where their only fight is the excitement of freedom from gravity.  We as the Northern California Chapter of this Foundation want to offer this excitement of freedom to our returning injured military and others in our area.

All proceeds will benefit the Dive Pirates Foundation.  The funds raised will pay for scuba lessons, scuba equipment and a trip to Cayman Brac for scuba certification for our wounded warriors, accident victims or divers with special needs

Join us in supporting this event. Your donation of $25.00 per person includes a barbeque meal, 1 raffle ticket.  There will be a guest speaker from the marines, treasure hunt and a fencing demonstration by local pirates.

$175 – Classroom, pool, *training equipment for pool and ocean, and certification fees.
$175 – Instruction fees, payable directly to the instructor.
$350 Total

*Training equipment provided in the course fees includes the scuba gear: tanks, regulator with compass and computer, BCD, weights, wetsuit and hooded vest. Personal gear (mask, snorkel, fins, boots, and gloves) is not included. Student pricing is available for personal gear and a staff member can help you select the gear that best suits your individual needs.

A pool will be available on site for free Discover Scuba sessions, and many of our instructors and divemasters will be… contributing their time and talent to introducing participants to the wonders of scuba. In addition, many of our manufacturers will have booths so you can talk to the experts about any products in which you might be interested. (The kelp in the photo will give you a clue as to how it received its unflattering nickname.) To get to Otter Cove drive a half mile South of 17th street in Pacific Grove down Ocean View Blvd. until you get to Sea Palm Avenue (first turnout after Lover’s). There will be a small free parking area for about 10 vehicles on the right side of the road. There is a stone stairway leading down to a small beach.

FREE! Orientation begins at 8:30AM. Meet other diving enthusiasts and discover new dive sites! Must be a certified diver to participate. Please sign up ahead of time, so we know how many divers to expect. Download the waiver, and bring the completed form and your certification card with you to the event. In addition to having the proper license, report cards, and equipment, take time to read through and understand proper tagging procedures. We have fishing licenses available in the store, and our knowledgeable staff can help you choose the right gear.
