PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) Course

PADI ProOverview

The Assistant Instructor program consists of the first half of the full IDC and provides you with additional experience beyond the Divemaster rating to teach you the PADI system of diver education. After finishing the AI Course, you will be certified to teach the knowledge development (classroom) presentations (under indirect supervision) and evaluate Open Water Diver surface skills under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor. This is not a prerequisite for a complete IDC, since these components are included in the full IDC. This is a challenging and intensive four-day training program consisting of 14 required training sessions including presentation workshops and practice sessions in both the pool and open water.

Prerequisites

    1. PADI Divemaster or equivalent leadership certification level with recognized diver training organization
    2. Be at least 18 years old
    3. A current Medical Statement indicating fitness for diving. A licensed physician must complete and sign the form. Note: The physician signing the form may not be the candidate
    4. Current CPR and First Aid Provider within the last two years
    5. Be a certified diver for at least six months and have completed and logged at least 60 diver
    6. Submit documentation for any qualifying certifications issued by another recreational diving organization. Not required for PADI certifications on file
    7. Complete the Any Water Sports Course Enrollment Agreement
