PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) /Instructor Crossover Course

Overview

OWI-CloseUpFor instructors that are crossing over to PADI from another training agency or continuing their journey from Assistant Instructor, the this course is the next step. The OWSI is the last half of a complete IDC and prepares you to effectively teach the PADI system of diver education. At Any Water Sports, we conduct the OWSI in a fun, stress-free environment allowing you to get the very best from yourself and the program. This is a challenging and intensive five-day program consisting of 24 required training sessions including presentation workshops and practice training sessions in both the pool and open water. After completion, you will be qualified to attend the PADI Instructor Examination which is scheduled either locally or in Southern California at PADI headquarters in Rancho Santa Margarita.

Prerequisites

  1. Certified and active PADI Assistant Instructor or a current instructor in good standing with a recognized diver training organization for at least six months
  2. Be at least 18 years old
  3. A current Medical Statement indicating fitness for diving. A licensed physician must complete and sign the form. Note: The physician signing the form may not be the candidate
  4. Current CPR and First Aid instructor. The AWS EFR Instructor Course meets this requirement and be taken before or after the IDC
  5. Have completed and logged at least 60 dives at the OWSI course initiation date, then have logged at least 100 dives prior to attending the IE
  6. Have the required knowledge in dive theory to pass the five-part Dive Theory Exam in physics, physiology, recreational dive planner, skills and environment and equipment. Note: Candidates who have completed Dive Theory Online within 12 months (eRecord is proof) may receive credit for this prerequisite
  7. Submit documentation for any qualifying certifications issued by another recreational diving organization. Not required for PADI certifications on file
  8. Complete the Any Water Sports Course Enrollment Agreement
